In June, Navigation Technologies (NavTech) commissioned J.D. Power and Associates211u001e(JDP&A) to conduct a quantitative study among potential non-fleet buyers of in-211u001evehicle navigation systems. The purpose of this Study was to gather information 211u001ewhich would assist NavTech and the other producers of this system in their 211u001eefforts to successfully market the system to end-users. The Study consisted of 211u001eten two-day test drives of vehicles with navigation systems across three markets: 211u001eGarden City, New York; Chicago, Illinois; and Whittier, California. While this 211u001eStudy was designed to be quantitative, and was supported by three different 211u001equestionnaires completed by participants at various times throughout the test 211u001edrive, this research design did not allow for -the substantial respondent 211u001efeedback that was received. As such, NavTech further authorized JDP&A to conduct 211u001ea follow-up focus group in each of the three markets. The primary objective of 211u001ethe focus groups was to gather more detailed information from selected 211u001equantitative Study participants on a number of topics, including some from the 211u001equantitative Study questionnaires as well as new topics.
