The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conductsresearch to identify, measure, analyze, and control occupational hazards. One NIOSH research priority is the control of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. An important step in controlling these disorders is to understand the dose-response relationship between the activity and the injury or illness. This document presents the proceedings of a NIOSH workshop that addressed duplication of power hand tool research, possible research gaps, and a cohesive research strategy for the automotive manufacturing industry.
