Synthesis of the Income and Wealth of the Elderly: Implications for Long TermCare

摘要

This report explores the theories underlying saving patterns of the elderly.These include life cycle theory, precautionary savings and bequest motives. The implications of these theories were explored using data. This literature review concluded that as a group the elderly are doing relatively well economically, that they are a diverse group and that they are facing substantial economic risk.
