Total Immersion: An Approach to a Multicultural Curriculum

UCoA has developed a methodology for quickly teaching college faculty about theneeds and strengths of older minority adults so they can introduce this content to their students. With its partner, Brandeis' Institute for Health Policy (IHP), the UCoA conducted a demonstration project at East and West-Coast sites. Objectives were: (1) develop and implement a Total Immersion methodology for quickly imparting minority aging content to college faculty; (2) Assist project participants in developing model curricula and teaching materials for dissemination; and (3) Document for dissemination the process and outcomes of the Total Immersion approach for its three groups of participants--faculty members, older minority adults, and student assists.
