The Famine Mitigation Activity, a joint activity funded by USAID and the Officeof U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), maintains the Famine Mitigation Resource Library in Washington, D.C., which contains a collection of more than 3,600 books, reports, periodicals, manuscripts, and other materials on famine and related topics, focusing on, but not limited to, Africa. Many of the materials are nontraditional in format, e.g., trip reports, project evaluations, and unpublished reports and papers from private voluntary organizations and corporations involved in various aspects of food relief and sustainable development programs. This bibliography provides a complete list of the materials in the library, as well as some additional references.
