Three-Dimensional Modeling of the Global Distribution and Budget of Trace Gasesin the Troposphere. Final Report, December 1990-September 1993

The report presents a three-dimensional model for the global troposphere, whichsimulates the chemical production and destruction of 50 chemical species, their emission by biological and anthropogenic processes, their advective transport by the atmospheric circulation and their convective exchanges in cloud systems. The model reproduces the main features which characterize the global distribution of species such as methane, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and ozone in the troposphere. The model provides an estimation of the global lifetime and budgets of chemical species. The impact of human perturbations in the emission of trace constituents is assessed, with particular emphasis on changes that have occurred since the industrial revolution.
