Workflow Automation by Means of the OSI Job Transfer and Manipulation (JTM)Standard

This paper analyzes the JTM standard, finding a strong conceptual correspondencebetween workflow concepts and the JTM standard. This implies that JTM can be used to support workflows. This paper is the first to signal the usability of JTM for supporting workflows directly. The paper presents an analysis of workflow concepts and JTM concepts, and also analyses the correspondence of relationships between the concepts. Thus, we show that JTM is suitable for triggering activities, coordination of work, routing of documents, handling exceptions, safeguarding the integrity of business transactions, and retrieving information from business process.
