The Tuscarora Natural Gas Pipeline Project FEIS was prepared to satisfy therequirements of the National Environmental Policy Act and the California Environmental Quality Act. The FERC and SCL staffs conclude that approval of the proposed project, with appropriate mitigating measures including receipt of necessary permits and approvals, has the potential to significantly impact the environment. The FEIS evaluates alternatives to the proposal. The project involves the construction and operation of about 250 miles of interstate natural gas pipeline including 5 meter stations, and 12 mainline valves. The gas would be used to generate electrical power at the Sierra Pacific Power Company power plant at Tracy, Nevada. A total of 113,050 dekatherms of gas per day would be provided.
