Time-Domain Study of Generalized Transmission Lines

摘要

Generalized transmission lines whose differential section contains either anadditional series capacitance or parallel inductance arise naturally in the analysis of waveguides and layered structures. The present paper studies some basic properties of such transmission lines in the time domain. The differential equations for the voltage and current are of the Klein-Gordon form and their known solutions can be directly applied. Duality between the two types of transmission lines, Huygens' sources, equivalent sources and image concepts are discussed and the connection to physical electromagnetic problems through Fourier transformation is pointed out.
