Intelligent Transportation Systems. Building the ITI: Putting the National211 Architecture into Action

The handbook provides focused information about the National Intelligent211u001eTransportation Systems (ITS) Architecture (referred to in this document as the 211u001earchitecture) to those implementing the Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure 211u001e(ITI) in a metropolitan area. We provide an introduction to what the architecture 211u001esays about the ITI, and why a planner or implementer should be aware of the 211u001earchitecture. In this handbook, we stay at a fairly high level within the 211u001earchitecture and discuss major architecture systems and information 211u001eflows...enough to provide a basic understanding of what information the 211u001earchitecture provides to implementers. To go further, the reader needs to refer 211u001eto the architecture documentation. In order to make this a standalone document, 211u001ewe have also included some information on what the IT1 components are, what the 211u001earchitecture is, and the benefits of having and using the architecture to guide 211u001edeployment. We have tried to anticipate potential questions you may have and have 211u001eincluded those as questions and answers.
