摘要

With the introduction of B-ISDN (Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network),211u001eand the complex multimedia and multiparty services envisioned for it, a need 211u001earises for flexible and extensible signalling systems that can suport these 211u001eservices. In this report the design of call control functions for such a 211u001esignalling system is described. The work is performed within the context of the 211u001ePLATINUM (PLATform providing Integrated services to New Users of Multimedia) 211u001eproject, which aims at developing innovative dynamic multimedia application 211u001etogether with the underlying advanced broadband network architecture. The 211u001ePLATINUM signalling system comprises three functional layers: call control (CC), 211u001eresource control (RC), and bearer control (BC). These three layers deal with the 211u001eset of distributed operations needed to establish, maintain and release a 211u001etelecommunication call with all its necessary resources. Call control is the 211u001efunctionality that deals with the establishment, maintenance, and release of 211u001etelecommunication services among a set of users and the network.
