Introduction The U.S. Census Bureau produces projections of the resident population using a cohort-component method and assumptions about demographic components of change (future trends in births, deaths and net international migration). Projections are updated periodically to incorporate revised assumptions about anticipated trends for these components. This can result in differences between series in the projected population, both in terms of number and in distribution across characteristics. this document describes the methodology, assumptions, and inputs used to produce the 2014 National Projections.
