Excitation of Waves in a Very Large Floating Flexible Platform by Short Free-Surface Water Waves

The authors consider the situation that the platform is positioned in an areawhere a tidal current is present and the incident waves are long crested. The authors work out the formulation where the effect of a tidal current is neglected. They assume that the platform is oriented in the direction of the current, it is expected that this is the optimal situation with respect to minimal steady forces. The waves will be incident with a arbitrary angle of incidence. To keep the formulae simple the authors treat the case of infinite water depth, it will be clear from the analysis that the case of finite water depth is a straight forward extension.
