The purpose was to implement a collaborative gerontology education improvementproject. Ten academic institutions participated in the first year and ten different institutions participated in the project during the second year. This report is relevant to persons interested in engaging in similar partnerships to enhance faculty and curriculum development, community-based eldercare projects in collaboration with national associations, minority and non-minority educational health providers, practitioners, planners, policy makers and older adults. The objectives are: (1) to enhance gerontological content in the curricula; (2) to develop ten faculty service projects with community based organizations involving various professionals in the health and human services field; (3) to conduct training and technical assistance on minority aging at the national annual meetings; (4) to increase the number of professionals, 200 students and professionals trained in the field of aging and other health and human service disciplines through gerontological course instructions; (5) to establish linkages with ongoing aging network activities; (6) to foster beneficial collaborative outcomes for the enhanced relationship building between two national educational associations in aging; (7) to conduct interdisciplinary faculty and curriculum development 'Summer Institutes' in Gerontology and Geriatrics for HBCU's.
