摘要

These projects encompass a two-year study to characterize the size distributionsof particles bearing various major, minor, and trace elements at shoreline sites along the Chesapeake Bay and modeling of dry deposition velocities and fluxes using the size-distribution data and highly-resolved meteorological data to incorporate important episodic deposition-inducing conditions in estimates of annual dry deposition fluxes. These data are needed interpret results of continuing multiyear projects sponsored by the State of Maryland's Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (i.e., Chesapeake Bay Atmospheric Deposition Study; CBADS) to develop improved estimates of dry deposition fluxes for inorganic and organic constituents of aerosol particles to the Chesapeake Bay. The bulk of the work was completed by Teri L. Quinn for her Doctoral Thesis. Chemical mass balance calculations and plots were performed by Post Doctoral Research Associate, Dr. Ming Han. The deposition model developed in the study was coded in FORTRAN by Research Associate, Mr. Garry Battel.
