Improving Health Care for the Elderly through the Integration of Gerontology intoTwo-Year Allied Health Programs

摘要

The goal was to develop a replicable training program model which provides foreffective career preparation in allied health fields involving working with the elderly. The objectives were: (1) to increase the number of training partnership activities involving training program model which provides for effective career preparation in allied health fields involving working with the elderly; (2) to increase the number of training partnership activities involving increase allied health knowledge of gerontology and redesign current allied health curricula to allow for the increased integration of gerontological concepts; (3) to increase allied health knowledge of gerontology and redesign current allied health curricula to allow for the increased integration of gerontological concepts; (4) to increase allied health faculty knowledge of gerontology, enabling them to analyze and redesign current allied health curricula to allow for the increased integration of gerontological concepts: (5) to pilot test the modified allied health curriculum and instructional strategies; (6) to increase awareness regarding health-related needs of older persons through the dissemination of results and products of this project.
