Evaluation of the NCCDPHP-Produced Chronic Disease Prevention (CDP) File.Executive Summary

This study was designed to examine a variety of questions related to thedistribution and awareness, use, and perceptions of the Chronic Disease Prevention (CDP) File. The CDP File consists of the Health Promotion and Education Database, the Comprehensive School Health Database, the Cancer Prevention and Control Database and the Chronic Disease Prevention Directory. In particular, the following research questions were addressed: (1) the effectiveness of the distribution system for the CDP File on CD-ROM; (2) ways in which, and to what extent, the CDP File is used by priority audiences; (3) the perceived relevance and value of the information contained in the CDP File; (4) how users rate the performance of the CDP File in efficiency, accuracy, and user-friendliness; and (4) desired enhancements to the CDP File. The study provides the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention's (NCCDP) Technical Information Service Branch with a baseline assessment of the CDP's File impact and allows staff to identify areas which require more technical assistance.
