The Future of Disability Statistics, the first National Disability Statistics andPolicy Forum, was organized by the Disability Statistics Rehabilitation Research and Training Center at the University of California at San Francisco. It took place in Washington, D.C., on October 28, 1994. The authors' intention was to gather together a group of experts in order to help them clarify their goals in terms of data-collection efforts and to develop recommendations for their funding agency, the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, as well as other federal agencies and national efforts in the area of data on disability. These proceedings are based on an edited transcript of the presentations and discussion.
