This publication in the series, focuses on the activities of National Council ofTeachers of Mathematics (NCTM). NCTM has led in the effort both to reform mathematics in the nation's schools and to set national standards for education within several disciplines. Included is an overview of NCTM's landmark work, Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics (the Standards), which discusses NCTM's philosophy and provides sample lessons for all grade levels, giving teachers an opportunity to begin to interpret the Standards for their classrooms.
