Hand in Hand: Multigenerational Assistance Exchange Program

Total services provided by the Hand in Hand Project to its 42 participantsincluded 35 referrals to agencies for assistance, with a referral success rate of 34%. Two health fairs provided 16 screening or information and referral services. At least 53 health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, or glaucoma problems were administered; four people had abnormal readings. Outreach was conducted to 48 sites. Information on the project's goals and methods, and greater detail of information on project outcomes is available in the Final Report. This report should be of interest to anyone attempting intergenerational outreach programs or any outreach programs to the aged that involve use of college students, professionals in the fields of aging and intergenerational studies, and outreach or aging program planners and policy makers.
