Analysis and Implementation of a High-Speed Packet Switching Architecture: TheFrame Synchronized Ring

摘要

The thesis introduces and analyzes an interconnection network architecture, namedthe Frame Synchronized Ring (FSR). The architecture has been developed, especially, for high-speed switching and it is capble of supporting forthcoming multimedia applications. The author concentrates on introducing the switching concept, analyzing its performance and presenting the prototype implementation and application aspects. The anlaysis is followed by the prototype's presentation, highlighting hardware issues related to design of high-speed equipment. Finally, some application aspects, including ATM switching capabilities, are discussed.
