Standardized Test Protocol for Determining the Relative Transfer Efficiency ofSpray Guns

This test protocol outlines a standard procedure for measuring the relativeranking of the efficiency of spray guns which are used to apply organic coatings. While this protocol measures the transfer efficiency of each gun under very specific conditions, the transfer efficiency value is not absolute, and be expected to vary from one operator or laboratory to another. However, experimentation has shown that the relative ranking between guns remains the same even when different operators or laboratories perform the tests. The protocol can only be used to compare the transfer efficiency of the subject gun against the transfer efficiency of specified standard gun, when the test parameters conform to those provided in this protocol. Both the subject gun and the specified standard are to be evaluated together.
