The Guideline Technical Report documents the development of the clinical practiceguideline, 'Smoking Cessation', published in April 1996. It contains strategies and recommendations designed to assist clinicians, smoking cessation experts, smoking cessation specialists, and health care administrators/insurers/purchasers in identifying tobacco users and supporting and delivering effective smoking cessation interventions. The primary analytic technique used for reviewing and analysis of the scientific literature was meta-analysis.
