摘要

The Violence Against Women Act, Title VI of the Violent Crime Control and Law211u001eEnforcement Act of 1994 (Public Law 103-322), represents a significant turning 211u001epoint in our Nation's efforts to diminish the violence that undermines the 211u001esecurity, health, and hopes of many women. This legislation reflects the 211u001erecognition that violence against women is criminal, with far-reaching harmful 211u001econsequences for families, children, and society. In response to the Act, the 211u001eNational Institute of Justice (NIJ) is carrying out an extensive research and 211u001eevaluation program to develop knowledge about effective responses to violence 211u001eagainst women. One element of the program involves specific studies and reports 211u001emandated by the legislation. This report on domestic violence, stalking, and 211u001eantistalking legislation responds to Subtitle F of the Violence Against Women 211u001eAct, which directs the Attorney General to submit an annual report on these 211u001ematters.
