Honoring Our Elders: Intertribal Volunteer Program for Eldercare Services

This is the final report for the 'Honoring Our Elders: Intertrival Volunteer211u001eProgram for Elder Care Services.' During this period, the 'Gathering of Elders' 211u001eHealth Fair was held in the tribal community of Chehalis on May 20, 1997. 211u001eApproximately 35 booths were set up manned by 70 individuals who provided health 211u001eeducation/information and or a service such as blood pressure checks, ear 211u001escreening, hearing aid testing, eye examinations and massages to name a few. The 211u001eattached vendor list provides vendor name and the service or information they 211u001eprovided. A breakfast snack, a luncheon, and an afternoon snack was provided to 211u001ethe 250 participants of this event. Transportation was provided for tribal elders 211u001efrom each SPIPA Tribe to attend this event and each tribe had elders in 211u001eattendance. There was a time period on the agenda for vendors to speak to those 211u001ein attendance about the services they provide or a particular health issue that 211u001epertained to elder health.
