Toward a Women's Health Outcomes Research Agenda: A Report on the Annual211 Scientific Advisory Meeting (7th). Held on October 21, 1997. Abstract and 211 Conference Report

At the meeting, participants explored the role of outcomes research in women's211u001ehealth. The meeting provided an opportunity to assess current knowledge of 211u001ewomen's health based on data derived from outcome studies, evaluate the inclusion 211u001eof women and the use of gender analysis in outcomes research focused on women's 211u001ehealth, and begin to identify a research agenda for the future. In addition, 211u001eparticipants discussed private and public responsibilities for producing outcomes 211u001emeasures related to women's health and identified areas for collaboration. 211u001eMedical and health specialty groups provided written statements about advances 211u001eand challenges related to outcomes research in their arena. Finally, the meeting 211u001eprovided an opportunity for participants to consider how to translate research 211u001eresults into action or policy, for example, defining and shaping disease 211u001emanagement, promoting evidence-based medicine, and developing practice guidelines 211u001ethat affect women. The Scientific Advisory Meeting was successful in meeting its 211u001estated objectives. The Society for the Advancement of Women's Health Research 211u001econtinues to monitor and advocate for the advancement of outcomes research 211u001erelated to women's health through its communications and laboratory activities.
