Identifying Transit Needs and Opportunities in Mid-Sized Nebraska Cities

Many Nebraska residents who live in mid-sized communities (population 8,000-211u001e50,000) perceive an insufficient supply of transit services to meet their 211u001e'needs'. The following report took on the challenge of analyzing what are the 211u001eperceived transit needs in mid-sized Nebraska cities and what opportunities exist 211u001eto resolve these needs. This study used a mixed-method research strategy to 211u001eanalyze the transit needs of midsized nebraska cities. Mid-sized Nebraska cities 211u001einclude: Alliance, Beatrice, Columbus, Fremont, Gering, Grand Island, Hastings, 211u001eKearney, Lexington, Norfolk, North Platte, Scottsbluff, and York. Research tasks 211u001ein this study included an inventory of current transit services in the thirteen 211u001emid-sized communities (Kearney/Grand Island, Norfolk, Scottsbluff/Gering); and a 211u001enational transit survey of innovative transit services in other medium sized 211u001ecommunities.
