Internet Information Sharing for Transit Maintenance

A system architecture to share maintenance information between transit properties211u001ethrough use of the Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) was designed and trial 211u001etested, and guidelines were developed for adoption of basic and enhanced systems 211u001eby transit maintenance facilities. The system design allows for retrieval of 211u001einformation from relational databases on parts held by transit rapid transit 211u001eagencies for sale, exchange or sharing with other properties. An Internet website 211u001ewas designed with the capability of querying a prototype database of bus bearing 211u001eparts commonly used by major transit agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area.
