Modelling and Simulation of High-Yield Continuous Crystallisation

R. Sharnez made a dynamic model for high-yield continuous crystallization basedon the method of factors. The model was for a crystallization equipped with ideal fines classifier. A code of an early version of this program was presented by Randolph and Larson. Later R. Sharnez made a commercial version of the program. The program was not using ordinary differential equation (ODE) solvers, which nowadays are readily available, operate without convergence problems and are fast in computation. Also, the program was not written in an environment equipped with model parameters optimization routines. Optimization routines are important when fitting the simulation results to the experiments, since in the modelling the common case is that there exist parameters in the model the values of which are not known accurately and need to be optimized. Modest is a programming environment with both ODE solvers and model parameters optimization routines made by H.Haario.
