Special formulas are developed to calculate the Ae(sub 3) and the Ar(sub 3)temperature of proeutectoid ferrite formation and the A(sub cm) and the Ar(sub cm) temperature of proeutectoid cementite formation related to the decomposition process of austenite in low-alloyed steels. In addition, formulas are shown to predict the proeutectoid ferrite and cementite fractions during the cooling process. The formulas take into account the effect of steel grade, cooling rate and grain size. Some results of calculations are shown for homogeneous and as-cast structures of steels.
