Mississippi River Creel Survey, Little Falls Dam to Potlach Dam (Brainerd), May11 to October 31, 1996. Completion Report

A stratified random creel survey was conducted from May 11 to October 31, 1996 onthe Mississippi River from Little Falls to Brainerd and on the Crow Wing River downstream of the Sylvan Dam. This study was designed to provide information on the smallmouth bass Micropterus dolomeiui fishery and address concerns about potential overharvest in this river reach. Total estimated fishing pressure was 31,039 angler-hours (11.0 A-hr/acre) and total recreational boating was 9,009 user-hr. The season estimated finishing pressure for the Crow Wing River sector was 8,458 A-hr and for all four Mississippi River sectors combined was 22,581 A-hr.
