On November 21-24, 1996, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH) representatives conducted a health hazard evaluation at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, in response to a request submitted by the manager of Cornell's occupational health and safety program. The request concerned potential exposures of greenhouse employees and researchers to the insecticide nicotine during maintenance and manipulation of research plants.
