In this study, the authors begin efforts to determine sources and mechanisms ofnutrient replenishment, primarily nitrogen (N), in Lake Onalaska. These efforts are designed to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms of nutrient transport and renewal in the UMR. The authors present results of preliminary analyses of N concentrations in plant tissues, sediments, and water, and N deposition rates from accreted seston.
