Quality of Health Information on the Internet: Enabling Consumers to Tell Factfrom Fraud. Workshop Report. Held on the Internet on November 17, 1997

Health Improvement Institute presented a workshop on the quality of healthinformation on the Internet on November 17, 1997. Representatives from over 60 information on the health care, Internet, consumer interest, government, telecommunications, and public health organizations attended the workshop to explore possibilities for developing mechanisms to enable consumers to tell fact from fraud on the Internet. The workshop consisted of three parts: Expert presentations of the scope of the problem and potential solutions; Interactive workgroup discussions on criteria for, and costs and benefits of, possible mechanisms to enable consumers to tell health fact from fraud; Plenary session to hear workgroup results and discuss next steps.
