The Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale Housing Market Area (hereafter, Phoenix HMA) consists of Maricopa and Pinal Counties and is coterminous with the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, AZ Metropolitan Statistical Area. For purposes of this analysis, the HMA is divided into two submarkets: the City of Phoenix submarket, in Maricopa County, which includes the principal city of Phoenix, Arizonas capital and the sixth largest city in the United States, and the Greater Mesa-Scottsdale submarket, which consists of Pinal County and the remainder of Maricopa County.
