Are FIGs Good for You. Russian Financial Industrial Groups and Their Impact onthe Aerospace Industry

The report treats Russian Industrial Financial Groups (FIG) and their role in theRussian aeroplane industry. The first part is about the history of FIGs, their structure and general development. The second part makes an analysis of FIGs importance to the aeroplane industry, based on a series of interviews with leading representatives from this industry. The author discusses three different types of FIG: one in operation (MAPO MIG), one about to be created (MTA) and one transnational FIG, (IAE, a major Russion-Ukrainian joint venture). He ends by some conclusions regarding the role of FIGs in the Russian aircraft industry and Russian economic future.
