Miami Valley ITS. Early Deployment Plan: Recommended System Architecture and211 Technologies Working Paper

This system architecture paper will discuss proposed architectures for the four211u001e'infrastructure oriented' program areas defined by the project team and presented 211u001ein the Strategic Deployment Plan (August 1997). As explained in the Strategic 211u001eDeployment Plan, the other two program areas are process oriented and therefore 211u001edo not require system architecture. This report will concentrate on defining a 211u001ecombination of the physical and logical architecture of specific projects in the 211u001efour program areas to define their interfaces and communication criteria. The 211u001efour program areas, which will be discussed in this paper, are: 211u001eProgramArea1:Freeway/Incident Management Systems; Program Area 2: Advanced 211u001eTraffic Signal Control Systems; Program Area 3: Public Transportation Systems; 211u001eProgram Area 4: Multimodal Traveler Information Systems. A brief overview of 211u001ethese program areas and the projects that fall under them is discussed.
