Exploratory Evaluation of Rural Applications of Telemedicine

The Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP), Health Resources and Services211u001eAdministration (HRSA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and other 211u001eState and Federal governmental agencies have devoted considerable financial 211u001esupport to rural telemedicine demonstration projects. This project, which was the 211u001efirst nationwide survey of rural telemedicine (not limited to interactive video), 211u001eexamined the status of rural telemedicine. It also developed evaluation tools and 211u001emethods for agencies and individual programs to use in assessing the contribution 211u001eof telemedicine to rural health care delivery.
