This report presents a summary of the hydrogeology of the Upper zone of the LowerFloridan aquifer in Duval County, Florida, based primarily on a synthesis of geophysical logs. Logs are available more than 40 wells that tap the Upper zone of the Lower Floridan aquifer, including 21 wells logged during this study. In conjunction with the logging, water samples collected at the wellhead and point samples collected from various depths in the wells logged were analyzed to determine the distribution of chloride concentrations in the Upper zone of the Lower Floridan aquifer. Transmissivity values estimated from specific capacity tests of water-production wells (obtained form the files of the Jacksonville Water Reproduction Department) are presented as indicators of the hydraulic properties of the Upper zone in Duval County. The major-ion analysis of water samples collected at the wellhead and point samples collected at wellhead and point samples collected from various depths in the 21 wells logged are presented. Chloride-concentration data for about 60 other wells in northeastern Florida are also included.
