摘要

Analytical methods have been developed for simulating the development of pittingcorrosion damage on stainless steel surfaces in gas-fired condensing heat exchanges. These methods make use of deterministic models for the nucleation, growth, and repassivation of pits on the metal surface as a function of condensate chemistry, conductivity, the electrochemical properties of the substrate (corrosion potential), the nucleation site density on the surface, the defect structure of the passive film, and the first-order kinetics of repassivation of existing pits.
