The purpose of this course is to promote enhanced SMS implementation through atechnology transfer process consisting of presentations, discussions, and demonstrations. The topics addressed include effective SMS organizational approaches and processes, multidisciplinary practices, and technological applications. The multidisciplinary practices discussed demonstrate the importance of good communications within and among the various multidisciplinary agencies in a state and how these communications can be developed and improved. The benefits of the various organizational approaches, multidisciplinary practices, and technological applications are addressed. In addition, keys to successful implementation are discussed in terms of how the various organizations, practices, and applications came about and the approaches used.
