Corrections agencies are currently providing many specialized medical services to211u001eindividuals in their inmate populations who require more extensive care than that 211u001eprovided to most inmates. One result is rising medical care costs for state 211u001ecorrections agencies. It is in this context that the NIC Prisons Division and 211u001eInformation Center initiated a national survey on special issues in prison 211u001emedical services.
