One method of soil stabilization for potentially liquefiable sites is the use of211u001ea system of vertical drains to dissipate the excess pore water pressure generated 211u001eby earthquake loading, thus avoiding liquefaction. Performance assessments for 211u001ethese systems require the estimation of vertical drain spacing such that a 211u001emaximum threshold level of excess pore pressure ratio is not exceeded. This 211u001ereport discusses the development of a computer code to analyze three dimensional 211u001epore pressure generation and dissipation in layered sand deposits with vertical 211u001edrains. The analysis includes modeling of gravel drains and prefabricated drains 211u001ewith storage capacity. This report describes the selection of input parameters 211u001eand illustrates the application of the program for various types of drains.
