This decision document represents the selected final remedial action for the AIMSuperfund Site in the Village of Arcanum, Twin Township, Darke County, Ohio. This remedy addresses the statutory preference for treatment that reduces toxicity, mobility, or volume as a principal element by treating the battery casing chips, as well as soils and sediments contaminated with lead in excess of 1550 mg/kg that fail the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) test, to meet Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs) and pass the TCLP test. Due to the significant volume of waste at the Site, soils contaminated with lead in excess of 1550 mg/kg that pass the TCLP test will not be treated in order to remain on-site, but will be disposed of at an approved landfill. A review will be conducted to ensure that the remedy continues to provide adequate protection of human health and the environment within five years after commencement of the remedial action.
