Visual Character of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia and North Carolina

This document is intended as a basis for understanding those aspects of road andbuilding design that give the Blue Ridge Parkway its distinctive character. It is intended that this publication will become a useful tool for those landscape architects, engineers, and architects building within and along the parkway corridor. Likewise, it is important that new design and construction issues be more clearly understood by all park administrators, concessioners, agencies, developers, and citizens who will be planning and building within the park or within the viewshed of the parkway corridor.
