Fluxes of Trace Elements in Aerosol Particles Dry Depositing to the ChesapeakeBay Watershed

Concentrations of Al, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, S, Se, V, Zn, Ni, Pb, measured inaerosol particles over a 15 year period at 16 sites in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania were used to estimate dry deposition fluxes of these elements to the Chesapeake Bay's 7 major sub-basins. The concentration data were adjusted to reflect PM 2.5, as necessary, and averaged to produce five spatially-discrete categories, including two urban (i.e., Philadelphia/Camden and Washington, DC) and three rural (Deep Creek Lake, rural Bay, and Lewes, DE) areas. Concentrations observed in each of these regions were mapped onto the Bay Program's Phase-III Chesepeake Bay watershed model segments for each of the 7 major sub-basins and for the model's 9 land-use categories.
