A validation and evaluation study is conducted for the microscopic trafficsimulation model TRAF-NETSIM and the assignment model CONTRAM5. The study was performed for Swedish urban road traffic conditions and presents the benefits of the integration of models designed on different aggregation levels as an 'integrated model system'. The test site for the study is an arterial road section containing eight coordinated signalized intersections and one side street signalized intersection. Extensive field data is collected for two time periods, characterizing a midday and a morning traffic scenario. Field data from the midday traffic scenario is used for the calibration of TRAF-NETSIM. The field data for the morning traffic scenario is used for the validation of TRAF-NETSIM and for the evaluation of CONTRAM5.
