Section 2227 of the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act of211u001e1996 requires the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System to conduct a 211u001estudy and submit a report every five years to Congress detailing the extent of 211u001esmall business lending by all creditors. The act specifies that the study should 211u001eidentify factors that provide policymakers with insight into the small business 211u001ecredit market, including, among other items, the demand for credit by small 211u001ebusinesses, the availability of credit, and risks of lending to small businesses. 211u001eThis is the first report submitted in accordance with that requirement.
