Studies of Ocular Complications of AIDS (SOCA): Database Documentation for'Combination Foscarnet and Ganciclovir Therapy versus Monotherapy for the Treatment of Relapsed Cytomegalovirus Retinitis in Patients with AIDS (CRRT)'

The Cytomegalovirus Retinitis Retreatment Trial (CRRT) tested a drug regimenconsisting of combination foscarnetganciclovir therapy vs monotherapy for the treatment for relapsed cytomegalovirus retinitis in patients with AIDS. The CRRT was a multicenter, randomized, controlled, clinical trial that compared currently approved drugs for treament of relapsed cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in 279 patients with AIDS and either persistently active or relapsed CMV retinities. The outcome measures included mortality, morbidity, retinitis progression, visual acuity, and visual field. The paper associated with this report addressed the main results of the CRRT. This report documents the datasets used to complete analyses for this paper. A data dictionary, sample data listings, and relevant data collection forms are included in this document. Our variable naming conventions are also described. This document is intended to provide researchers with the necessary information to conduct additional analyses of the CRRT data, given the appropriated data sets (available upon request from the Coordinating Center).
