Requirements Definition Report: Variable Dynamic Testbed Vehicle

The material in this document forms the Requirements Definition Report for211u001edevelopment of the Variable Dynamic Testbed Vehicle (VDTV). This effort is in 211u001esupport of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) VDTV Implementation Task. We are 211u001edesigning, developing, fabricating, integrating, testing, and delivering a VDTV 211u001ein compliance with the requirements set forth by JPL. To produce the Requirements 211u001eDefinition Report, we have performed the following task items: conducted trade 211u001estudies based on JPL requirements to validate the proposed approach for the base 211u001evehicle; conducted a comprehensive dynamics analysis of the selected design 211u001econcept to confirm the expected performance capability range; addressed the cost, 211u001eschedule, and technical feasibility of providing backup to the dynamic subsystems 211u001eto provide fail-safe operation in the case of a malfunction of a safety-critical 211u001ecomponent; conducted analyses to evaluate JPLs requirements that pertain to the 211u001edynamic characterization of the VDTV; defined interface requirements for all 211u001eelements of the delivered system, and defmed system test requirements.
